Entry #122 - Package PDF Print E-mail

deliveryI love receiving packages.  It's the best.  Especially when you can track them through a Mac widget like Delivery Status.  I love how it tells you exactly how many days until your package arrives.  It sets proper expectations.  I like that.  And with UPS or FedEx, the delivery date is rarely wrong.  In fact, if the date IS wrong, it's because my package has come early!  (BTW, can anyone explain why the USPS tracking system is so useless?  It tells you when the package has been registered in the system and when it has been delivered, but nothing in between.  It is truly terrible.)

Having a baby is like waiting to receive a package.  You know when it's going to arrive because your doctor tells you when it's coming.  The anticipation is there - it's just a super duper long wait.  You have to be uber patient.  Instead of being delivered via FedEx from California, for example, the package is being delivered via foot courier from the moon.

Our delivery date was today, but like all awesome packages, our daughter came early.  Mya Joy Hsia (a.k.a. Lil' MJ) decided to torpedo into the world (that's what it looked like) on Friday, April 16th at 10pm.  Jocelin wanted to have a completely natural childbirth, and she did!  I am very proud of her.  I honestly wasn't sold on the natural childbirth thing, at least not until Jocelin told me that the epidural was going to cost extra.  At that point, I was like, go, Jocelin, go - all the way, yeah!  You can do it!  But none of that mattered.  Because once Jocelin set her mind to it, by golly, nothing was going to get in her way.

Here are some pictures of that day.  We knew once we woke up that Lil' MJ would be coming that day.  It was just a matter of when.  So Jocelin got to work with her amazing doula and our good friend from church, Sara French, and by 10pm that evening, the work was done.  Both mama and baby are doing great.  She is eating well, sleeping well, and pooping well.  Oh yeah, and so is Mya...

The night before delivery - Mya trying to get out
She's a good eater - just like her mama
